Powered by love, passion, and compassion, Harmony AIM provides health and wellness care through an integrated approach combining traditional Chinese medicine and contemporary biomedicine.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) or Chinese Medicine (CM) has a history of more than 3000 years. It is the sum of knowledge, skills, and practices grounded in the philosophy, theories, experiments, and experiences indigenous to Chinese cultures, and used in the maintenance of health as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of physical and mental illness.

TCM is a holistic and natural medical system that has existed in China from ancient times to the present and is now practiced worldwide. It operates on the philosophy and theories that the innate self-healing ability of the human body restores balance and harmony to body, mind, and spirit. TCM restores self-healing ability through natural solutions, including six modalities: acupuncture, moxibustion, Chinese herbs, tuina/massage, Qigong, and dietary therapy.

TCM also emphasizes personalized treatment by following a principle of diagnosis and treatment called  Pattern Differentiation for Treatment, or just Pattern Differentiation. Patterns are diagnosed and treated based on an individual’s state of illness, body constitution, lifestyle, living environment, season, and biomedical interventions. Therefore, pattern-based, patient-centered treatment provides humane and scientific healthcare rather than machine-based, disease-centered care.

Contemporarily, TCM is a form of integrative medicine and a part of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM). As a pioneer, acupuncture started the legendary journey of TCM in the US in 1970. Then, acupuncture and Chinese medicine have gained increasing popularity and offer a valuable option for people seeking health and wellness. At Harmony AIM, with a unique educational background in TCM and biomedicine, practitioners skillfully integrate TCM modalities into patients’ treatment plans, considering other healthcare disciplines such as Western medicine, nutrition, lifestyle changes, and physical therapy.

Finally, TCM is an integrated wisdom of medicine, science, philosophy, arts, and nature. Its most significant advantage is that it can deal with various unknown health problems and works well when there are too many unclear issues. For example, a patient feels sick, but all laboratory and diagnostic tests are not problematic. No disease can be diagnosed. No microorganism pathogens are identified. In one word, no target can be used by biomedicine or allopathic medicine. Then TCM should be a valuable option that may surprise you. TCM practitioners often have to explain that TCM is medicine, not magic, a miracle, or a myth.

Our vision is that everyone can live a better life. TCM can help you avoid getting sick, get sick less often, and only experience minor illnesses. Ultimately, the medicine can help you live your best life in harmony with body, mind and spirit.

Our mission is to treat diseases, prevent illnesses, and promote wellness.

Our strength is treating the whole person—body/mind/spirit, including disease symptoms and body constitution.

Our strategy is evidence-based practice and integrative healthcare.

Our uniqueness is communicating with Western medicine and treating with acupuncture and Chinese medicine.
